2023: Peter Obi names Datti Baba-Ahmed as running mate

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi on Friday named Mr Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate.

Baba-Ahmed was a former Senator who represented Kaduna North Senatorial district and the founder of Baze University Abuja.

He is 46 years old and hails from Kaduna.

He replaced Dr. Doyin Okupe who’s name was earlier submitted to beat the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline. However, in line with the processes of replacement as stipulated by the Electoral Act as amended, Dr. Okupe has withdrawn as running mate before paving way for Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Dr. Okupe still maintain his status as the Director General of Peter Obi Campaign Organisation.

Okupe who announced his withdrawal via his verified Twitter handle @doyinokupe noted that his party would announce the new running mate to the presidential candidate.

“This afternoon I submitted my withdrawal letter from the position of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party to INEC. A replacement will be announced by d national chairman of d party shortly. I feel greatly blessed to have been part of the foundation of success 4 the LP,” Okupe tweeted.
