The Department of State Services (DSS) has debunked report published in an online platform that one of the escaping inmates caught in a chase after the recent Kuje prison attack was its personnel.

The DSS in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya on Thursday, said none of its personnel was apprehended by NCS operatives as stated in the report.

Change of Name

The report had alleged that the DSS personnel who was apprehended near Kwali claimed to be “carrying out a special mission in the forest”.

But in his response, Dr Afunanya said none of DSS personnel was involved in the escape episode.

He said “in fact, at the point of the attack on the prison, no DSS personnel was an inmate at the holding facility just as the claim of carrying out a special assignment was non-existent. The Vanguard report is not factual and therefore misleading. The public is advised to disregard it,” he added.
