BREAKING: Bandits dare Buhari, attack presidential convoy in Katsina
President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance team on Tuesday came under serious attacks by the daring bandits, but were repelled by the presidential guards.
The suspected bandits upon sighting the presidential convoy engaged in cross fire with presidential guards in Dutsinma, Katsina State.
President Muhammadu Buhari hails from Daura in Daura Local Government Council, Katsina State in the Northwest, Nigeria.
In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu which was obtained by CAPITAL POST in Abuja confirmed the incident.
The statement described the incident which involves cross fire of Security details with bandits as sad.
He said the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah came under attack by bandits.
Garba said: “The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions, but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.”
He however, disclosed that two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered.
All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.
President Buhari was visiting Daura, his homeland for Sallah celebration on Saturday, 10th July, 2022.
