NIS decorates 98 Senior Officers who got elevated to new ranks
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has decorated 98 Senior Officers who were earlier elevated to their new ranks.
It is recalled that the Civil, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), released the 2021 Senior Officers’ promotion list.
In a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, Amos Okpu on Wednesday which was made available to CAPITAL POST, said, the event was held at the Service Headquarters, Abuja.
The statement said: “A total of 24 newly promoted Assistant Comptrollers General (ACG) and 70 Comptrollers of Immigration Service were adorned with their new ranks in a decoration ceremony attended by the top echelon of the paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior, senior officials of the CDCFIB and management staff of the Service.”
In his address, the acting Comptroller General Isah Jere Idris stated that the event was a demonstration of the renewed commitment to the welfare of staff by the Service.
This he noted, is in line with the three-point agenda which include border security, Passport reform and personnel welfare, he unfolded upon assumption of office.
He charged the newly promoted officers to deepen their commitment to duty and supervision of subordinates to ensuring that operational efficiency is sustained and quality service delivery improved. He added that the Service shall not accept average performance from them in any situation where excellence is achievable.
Earlier, the Director/Secretary of the CDCFIB, Hajiya Aisha Rufai’ congratulated the newly promoted Officers and described their promotion as well-deserved stressing that the Board looked at their conducts, performances, oratory and skills sets before considering them for the promotion.
Also, a Commissioner of the Board in-charge of Appointment and Promotion, Major General Emmanuel Bassey (rtd), called on the Officers to lead their men with integrity and be ready at all times to display the highest levels of discipline and decorum as senior members of the Service.
Among the Officers decorated with their new ranks of Assistant Comptroller General and Comptroller of Immigration include ACG Kemi Nandap, the Officer in-charge of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport Lagos, the immediate past Principal Staff Officer to the acting CGI, ACG Ahmad Bauchi Aliyu fsi and Comptroller Mustapha Ahmad, Special Assistant to the acting CGI on Operations.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola had on Tuesday at the Conference Room of the Ministry, decorated four Deputy Comptrollers General of Immigration (DCG) who were also promoted. They include DCG Oluremi Talabi, DCG Josephine Kwazu fdc, DCG Modupe Anyalechi and DCG Muhammad Aminu Muhammad mni.
The Minister congratulated them for their new appointments and urged them to deploy their experiences and expertise in the nation’s fight against insecurity.
Some important personalities at the event include ACG Ado Jaffaru (rtd), a Federal Commissioner at the CDCFIB, distinguished Senator Uba Sani, the Secretary to the government of Kaduna State, Mallam Bala Abbas Lawal, representatives of the heads of the Civil Defence Corps, Federal Fire Service and Correctional Service among others.
