2 Wives of ex-Accountant-General, others kidnapped in Zamfara
Two wives of the former Accountant-General of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abubakar Bello were kidnapped as bandits stormed Furfuri around 2.30am of Monday.
Reports said, about 20 other residents were also abducted in an operation that lasted for hours without intervention of security agents in Furfuri, a town in Bungudu Local Government Council of the State.
Zamfara is in the Northwest Nigeria and it’s a hotbed of banditry operations.
A resident who identified himself as
Malam Haruna Manaja Furfuri in an interview with journalists confirmed that bandits stormed the town early morning of Monday at about 2.30am and went straight to the residence of former Zamfara Accountant-General, kidnapped his two wives, three children during the attack.
Luckily, the two wives and other women escaped from the bandits hideout few hours after abduction, according to a local, Malam Manager.
“It was after the community trailed the bandits into the bush, the bandits left the victims and run away. That is how some of the kidnaped victims including two wives of Alhaji Abubakar Bello were rescued,” he said.
He said three children of the former Accountant General including a young lady who will soon be married were still in bandits den.
The bandits have called the Accountant-General demanding for ransom before releasing his three children.
Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the abduction, but said they’re intensifying efforts for the release of abductees.
