Kogi group kicks against APC’s Reps candidate for Dekina/Bassa, says he has health challenges

A group operating under the aegis of Dekina/Bassa Renaissance for Positive Development (DBRPD) has frowned at the manipulation of All Progressives Congress, APC, election primaries for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency that threw up Paul Gowon as it’s candidate.

The group said, the candidate has health challenge, hence, sending him for the national assignment as a Federal lawmaker in the lower legislative Chamber wasn’t in the best interest of the constituents.

In a statement signed and made available to press men by the President of the association, Mr Mudi Ibrahim on Monday, said, the business of the legislation, is such a challenging one that requires, intelligent, smartness and mental alertness adding that Honourable Paul Gowon ( IJN ), who has been battling with health challenge since 2014 should not be a candidate that will square up with the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The group lamented why APC will be so insensitive and callous to feature such an ill health challenged personality for such an important national assignment.

While the group called on the APC to renege its decision, it also advised Honourable Paul Gowon IJN, to reject APC’s offer and concentrate on taking good medical care of himself stressing that “health is wealth”.

The statement partly reads: “It has come to our knowledgeable that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party have conducted their primaries in the State ahead 2023 general election.

“Consequently, the above body received the shocking news of APC’s that emerged for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in person of Honourable Paul Gowon (IJN) who has been battling with all manner of sicknesses including stroke since 2014.

“While we respect pour elders and pay regard to the right to personal life, as well as right to free will, we however question APCa motive of featuring a sick fellow for national assignment.

“Though we do not write for PDP to capitalize on this disturbing development, we are bold to condemn APC for being insensitive and callous.”
