Foremost youth organisation under the auspices of Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitisation (CYMS) has urged Nigerians irrespective of class to support the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the fight against corruption in other to save the future of the younger generation and the nation at large.
The group made this known in a statement issued by its Director General, Mr Obinna Nwaka on Friday in Abuja.
Nwaka frowned at the way political office holders and senior civil servants embezzles, squanders and loots the nation’s asset without fear or remorse.
He also condemned the act of leaders who have unclarified case with the EFCC, yet have the impetus to purchase forms to represent the same people they loot and deprived from enjoying the dividends of democracy.
But recently, the EFCC have been clamping down on politicians and public office holders allegedly involved in financial fraud, money laundering, misappropriation of public funds and abuse of office.
CYMS described the activities of the commission as timely stating that it requires courage to go after the calibre of personality being invited and held under its custody for interrogation.
CYMS also expressed optimism that with the courageous attitude of the Executive Chairman of Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, the country’s corruption index will be brought to it knees.
Nwaka however urged persons invited by the Commission for interrogation not to Ignore invitations for whatever reason adding that if they feel insecured they can get a lawyer to accompany them to avoid the popular “Political witch-hunt” been circulated by politicians.
