The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello to tender an apology to Kogi citizens for misleading them on the COVID-19 issues.

In a statement he made available to journalists, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiya said, for months, the governor has been involved in treadmill and shadow boxing and wouldn’t allow tests to be carried out in the state.

He said the lockdown declared in Kabba Bunu LGA in Kogi West Senatorial District has exposed his hypocrisy and mischief against the people he governs, insisting that the governor needs to apologise to the people for not allowing for test and for not providing the desired leadership since the emergence of the pandemic in the country.

“The Governor neither lead the campaign against COVID-19 nor show the required leadership.

“Bello should apologize for not funding the COVID-19 squadron Committee he set up and for not providing palliatives to the Committee.”

The party lamented that Kogi State could not take advantage of the coronavirus to improve its health facilities, noting that the governor would be monitored to ensure that the lockdown he declared is observed with palliatives.

Ologbondiyan urged the people of Kabba Bunu to be strengthened by the fact that measures would be put in place for their safety and well-being, describing COVID-19 as a global pandemic and not a death sentence.
