Ondo PDP primaries: Senator Akinyelure loses, retrieves vehicles donated to party leaders for turning against him
Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial district and Chairman of Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Ayo Akinyelure has lost a return ticket.
In the Senatorial primary which conducted in Akure, Ondo State capital, the incumbent was defeated by Ifedayo Adedipe having scored 58 votes, behind Adedipe who scored 82 votes.
Irked by the defeat reports said the lawmaker has started retrieving vehicles he earlier donated to PDP leaders in his Senatorial district with a promise that he would be voted.
The election was held on Monday, but the beneficiaries of vehicles were not immediately told to return vehicles donated to them, a development that made it look as if “retrieval of vehicles was an afterthought.”
The third runner up, was the former State Chairman of PDP, Chief Clement Faboyede, 57 votes.
An official of the party claimed that Akinyelure had retrieved the vehicles given to Chief Segun Adegoke, a member of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, and that of Wole Akindiose, a former PDP Chairman in Ondo East Senatorial District and national delegate to the forthcoming convention of the party.
Reacting to inquiry, his Media Aide, Charles Akinwon, said it was only one, Mr Akindiose that was told to return a vehicle given to him for working against the lawmaker.
