A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi has dumped his political party.

He has also withdrawn his ambition, hence, he would not be participating in the presidential election slated for Friday.

Change of Name

Obi announced his resignation in a letter dated 20th May, addressed to the National Chairman of the party.

The ex-presidential aspirant who governed Anambra State twice on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) before he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party may have seen his slim chances of winning the primaries.

In the letter, he revealed that he has also informed the chairman of the PDP in his ward, Agulu Ward II, of his official exit from the party.

It is not yet clear if Obi will run for the President under another party, but supporters group working for his presidential ambition earlier in the week suggested that he should dump PDP and move to another political platform in order to realise his ambition.
