Kaduna PDP governorship: Dr Datti Ahmed steps down ambition 24 hours to election primaries

One of the Kaduna State governorship aspirants on the on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Datti Ahmed has dumped his gubernatorial ambition 24 hours to the primaries.

Datti’s position was made known through a statement by the former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district and a governorship aspirant in 2023, Shehu Sani which he made available to DAILY POST in Abuja on Tuesday.

Change of Name

According to the statement, Datti withdrew from the race without the prompting of anyone, which Sani described as a courageous move.

Sani who was expected to participate in the primaries scheduled for Wednesday ruled out paying delegates for votes.

He said: “The information before me has it that one of my fellow Kaduna governorship aspirant, Dr Datti Ahmed has withdrawn from the race scheduled to hold tomorrow.

“I salute him for his courage and valid reasons.

My position is this: “I will be among the aspirants seeking for the votes of our delegates tomorrow.

The former lawmaker Civil Rights activist has urged delegates to disregard any Coordinator who promised to be paid on his behalf.

He said, he will participate in the election primaries in the best interest of the people of Kaduna State, adding that bribe for delegate votes wasn’t part of his ideology, hence, he can’t succumb to the culture now.

“I WILL NOT PAY any delegate to vote for me and no one should pay any delegate on my behalf.

“I don’t believe in the political ritual of paying to be elected. That is inconsistent with my ideological and moral beliefs.

“I welcome the votes of delegates who will vote for me based on the principles I stand for and my agenda for the good people of kaduna state.

“We can’t build and develop our country and free our people from the bondage of slavery through a corrupt political process and system we have unconscionably embraced.

“An opposition party should be a dependable alternative and an exemplary for transparency, justice and equity.

“Those expecting or calling me for millions in order to vote for me shouldn’t waste their time and disregard any of my coordinators who may try to make false promises against my position.

“I believe in either winning or losing with dignity.”
