Unknown Gunmen: Criminal elements behind killings in Southeast should stop – IPOB leader
Mazi Namdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday sent a strong message to those behind killings and cannibalism in the Southeast.
He urged them to stop, stating that the heinous acts by the so-called unknown gunmen wasn’t in the interest of anybody.
The message was conveyed by his younger brother, which was quoted by the Vanguard newspapers.
Emmanuel was on a routine visit to the separatist leader where he is being detained at the Department of State Services (DSS) earlier on Monday.
Kanu was quoted as saying that all those behind the current killings in southeast must be held accountable for their atrocities, adding that Igbo people are not known for cannibalism, beheadings, or mindless killings.
Lately, the unknown gunmen kill their victims and behead them. Last week, the police discovered the severed head of a state legislator who went missing in Anambra State.
The unknown gunmen have been on rampage in Anambra State, killing, Kidnapping and burning down government infrastructure, while the Federal government believes that the act is being perpetrated by IPOB members.
