Unknown gunmen in Anambra forests are known – Police Commissioner
Worried by the daily killings in Anambra State by the so-called unknown gunmen, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng on Monday said those behind the heinous acts have been identified.
Though, he didn’t name them as IPOB militants as widely believed, but said there was nothing hidden about the assailants, adding their activities have been so outrageous.
Addressing journalists in Awka, the headquarters of Anambra State, the Police Chief insisted that those carrying the dastardly act are not foreigners, but the locals.
According to him, residents in some parts of the country can no longer sleep with their eyes closed, he reiterated the readiness of the command in the state to fish out the hoodlums terrorizing the State.
The Police Commissioner expressed disappointment over attitudes of persons for harbouring and hiding criminal elements around, urging them to offer useful information.
He said: “There is nothing unknown about the gunmen terrorizing Anambra State, to warrant calling then ‘unknown gunmen’.
All hands must be on deck to curtail the excesses of these assailants to avert the combustible catastrophe that may arise from their activities.
