Plateau: Jubilation trails Reps Bagos, Beni Lar’s victory at PDP primaries in Jos

Deputy Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Anti-Corruption and member representing Jos South/Jos East in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dachung Bagos has clinched the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in the just-concluded primary election held in Jos South LGA of Plateau State.

Bagos polled 34 votes to defeat his closest challenger, former Speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abok Ayuba who scored 25 votes.

Also, Ezekiel Badung scored 3 votes and Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ashoms scored 2 votes, while Dr. Chomo Datiyi and Mr. Pam David Jang got no votes.

While declaring the results, Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee, Hon. Idi Waziri said, “Dachung Musa Bagos scored 34 votes and he is hereby returned as winner of the election.

He commended the aspirants for conducting themselves peacefully.

Waziri urged them to work together to ensure that the candidate wins the secondary election.

Also the incumbent Honourable member representing Langtang North and Langtang South Federal Constituency Hon. Beni Butmak Lar has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), primaries for the constituency.

Lar, who is aiming for her fifth term, polled 70 votes to defeat her only opponent, Gideon Nanden who scored 1 vote while 3 delegates were absent at the voting center.

The Chairman of primary election committee for Langtang North and Langtang South Federal Constituency, Mr. Solomon Abdong declared Hon. Lar winner of the election having polled 70 votes out 74 votes.

The election was observed by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission from the two Local Government Areas.

Shortly after declaring winner of election, Honourable Lar thanked the delegates for their confidence on her and dedicated the victory to her constituents.

She assured the constituents of her determination to consolidate on the gains of the past by providing effective representation.

Meanwhile, the Minority Leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Gyendeng also won the Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency ticket.
