Kaduna APC governorship aspirant, Sha’aban dismisses Appeal Committee’s claims on delegates congress
By Bashir Bello, Kaduna
Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC), primary election, the campaign organisation of a frontline governorship aspirant in Kaduna State, Alhaji Sani Sha’aban has faulted claims by the Congress Appeal Committee of Kaduna State Chapter on the APC’s claims that there was no petition sent to it.
Reacting through a statement on Saturday by the Sani Sha’aban campaign Director General, Barr. Joshua Danladi Ephraim, he insisted that no delegates congress was held at all anywhere.
Ephraim said there was a petition written by the campaign organisation and submitted to the Committee, contrary to claims by the APC Appeal Committee “that no petition was written and forwarded to them for consideration within two days of their sitting.”
He described as “misleading” the press release by the Appeal Committee claiming that delegates congress was held.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the press, this press statement is in direct response to the misleading and erroneous press release by the APC Delegate Congress appeal committee, given just a few hours ago which claimed; That congresses to produce delegates in Kaduna State were held.
“That there was no petition submitted for consideration by any person or campaign organization for the alleged two days of their sitting.
“We would want to categorically deny before you, and before the whole world that no such congress to produce delegates was ever held in the whole state.”
The campaign organisation expressed disappointment that the APC Appeal Committee which was supposed to be fair has suddenly become a tool in hands of some party elements who are desperate to manipulate the affairs of Kaduna APC to their advantage, adding that a petition was written by them because, some party members bought delegates forms which were not collected by the party.
“Secondly, there was a petition written by us. It is a fact, that many party faithfuls, indeed, paid for, and filled the delegates form which were not collected by the state and the national office of our dear party, thus disenfranchising thousands of APC members of their rights to become delegates as enshrined in the constitution of our great party and the election guideline which is, we submit is an integral part of the electoral process that produces the candidate of the party.
“Furthermore, we have submitted a petition to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Kaduna State that no congress to produce delegates as ever held, a copy of which would be made available to you.
“Also, we have here before you, a petition by our campaign organization about the non-conduct of any congress to produce the purported delegates in the state and the petition was not collected.
“Lastly, ladies and gentlemen of the press, before you is our own petition challenging the conduct of any delegate congress within Kaduna State which the appeal committee refused to collect.
“We wish to categorically state that there was no delegates election in the state, which would also be made available to you.”
