Breaking: FG government in dramatic U-turn eases lockdown in Kano
The Federal Government of Nigeria on Monday bowed to pressure and has eased the lockdown ocassioned by the COVID-19 pandemic in Kano.
The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 made this known during a briefing in Abuja.
President Muhammadu had in an address to the country on April 27 ordered a 14-day lockdown in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria which was later extended by the PTF on COVID-19.
In an update o Monday in Abuja, the PTF said: “Easing the total lockdown of Kano State and introduction of Phase One of the Eased Lockdown.
“This is still a fight for life and our advancement to phase two does not mean that COVID-19 has ended. It is still potent and highly wasteful of human lives. I implore all Nigerians and corporate citizens to take responsibility and play the expected role.”
