Crisis rocks Zamfara PDP as party Chairman is suspended over anti-party activities
Zamfara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended it’s Chairman, Retired Colonel Bala Mande over alleged anti-party activities ahead of 2023 general election.
The State Working Committee said suspension takes immediate effect and remains so, untill
the conclusion of investigation into the allegations raised against him of selling the party’s secrets to other people in exchange for gratifications.
In a statement by the State’s party Publicity Secretary, Mr Abba Bello in Gusau, said, apart from anti-party activities, the embattled Chairman indulges in other activities that were not in the interest of the party.
The statement said: “This becomes necessary owing to the fact that the State Chairman has been conducting the affairs of the party without the involvement of the State Working committee, selling secret to higher bidder for gratifications.
The statement pointed out that the suspended leader has acted in breach of the party Constitution, adding that his suspension was to forestall power abuse in future.
A panel of inquiry into his activities has been constituted and they have one month to investigate and revert back to the State Working Committee, even as the Vice Chairman of Laura Namoda zone will oversee the State PDP untill conclusion of the investigation.
The members of the panel were Ahmed Sani, Kaura Chairman; Bala Zurmi, Member; Sanin Baba, member; Abdulhadi Ahmed, member; Suwaiba Bako, Member; Abul Mustapha, member; and Ibrahim Jibril, who was to serve as Secretary.
