Kogi State Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole has reportedly hidden the mace as tension fully built up for his investigation over alleged financial sharp practices.

As at Wednesday, the State House of Assembly has been under lock and key as his colleagues who are aggrieved vowed to investigate him and other principal officers over allegations of fraud and funds released to him to mobilise supporters for Governor Yahaya Bello Presidential campaign.

CAPITAL POST recalled that the Speaker toured most States of the Federation to meet other House members to canvass support for Bello’s 2023 Presidential ambition which he was expected to move round with other colleagues, but never do so most often.

He was said to have used the State Assembly account for his personal advantage, a development that infuriated other members upon the discovery.

The RT. Hon Mathew Kolawole-led Kogi State House of Assembly has been uneventful as he got into extraneous activities that were unrelated with legislative activities and much more as he was alleged to have five star hotels and clubs in Abuja, Ilorin and even in Lokoja, the State capital.

Penultimate week, there were reports of aggrieved members wanting the Speaker investigated, a development that was already in the public domain, but he has not since then issued a statement to counter or admit his financial impropriety.

He is currently aspiring to contest for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
