Borno civil servants express disapproval over purchase of nomination form for Zulum’s 2023 re-election
Aggrieved civil servants have condemned donations by some leaders of associations and professional institutions to buy re-election nomination form for Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum.
They accused their leaders of compromise citing reasons that Borno State governor has been unfairly treating them.
The government workers maintained that Zulum has introduced a very harsh condition since he came into office as the executive governor of Borno, hence, he should not be re-elected for a second term of office.
In a statement which was signed by the “concerned civil servants”, titled: “vote of no confidence in Borno State governor and Borno Labour leaders”, the workers revealed that many of their colleagues have migrated from the State due to harsh conditions.
They said many medical personnel have relocated to places where their services are valued with many still contemplating, adding that some have also joined the nongovernmental organizations.
They expressed surprise that the labour union in Borno State donated money for purchase of nomination form for the governor when civil servants were expecting another administration to emerge so as to care for them.
The statement partly read: “We are asking you to withdraw your false claims that you made against us that we have determined to ensure that Governor Zulum continues in office.
“Zulum willingly denied to pay us our yearly increment, promotion benefits, leave grant, our eight months areas of consequential adjustment, pension and gratuity. With which money do you want us to buy him the Expression of Interest and the Nomination forms?”
The workers denied ever buying nomination form for governor Zulum’s 2023 re-election bid.
Reacting, Umar Shettima said the decision to contribute for the purchase of the forms for the governor was a collective decision.
“We met as an association and made the decision to purchase the forms because we the nurses and midwives of Borno know what the governor has done for us,” he said.
