PDP sweeps all LGAs in Saturday’s election in Benue
Benue State government on Saturday conducted polls into its Local Governnent Administration.
Of all the political parties that participated in the election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the chairmanship positions in all the 23 local government areas (LGAs) as well as the 276 councillorship positions in the state.
The Chairman, Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Tersoo Loko, on Sunday made the announcement.
He however said, details of the Councillorship poll results would be released to the public at a later date, noting that the peripheral results showed that all the wards in the entire LGAs were won by PDP.
In a brief address at the BSIEC, Loko said, “Elections took place in all the 3,691 polling units in the state, (as well as) 276 council wards across the 23 local governments of the state.
“In all, five political parties participated in the whole process. By the powers conferred on me as the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, I announce the results.”
It was following this that Loko reeled out the results of all the Chairmen-elect and Councillors-elect.
The BSIEC Chairman is expected to present the Chairmen-elect and Councillors-elect with their certificate of returns at the BSIEC headquarters, Makurdi on Monday.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the ruling party in Benue State.
