Bagos: A prototype of modern day legislator
Before his admittance into the nation’s legislative arm following the confidence reposed in him by the electorate, Dachung Musa Bagos made himself available by offering to be a tool to fight against injustice and corruption as well as becoming the hope of the next generation by initiating the Dachung Musa Bagos Foundation.
His fight for the protection of human and territorial dignity of Nigeria saw him assemble youths from the 17 Local Government Areas in Plateau State under the aegis of the G-17 Plateau Youths Forum was responsible for sponsoring several bills in the State and National Assemblies that sought to address issues like open grazing and insecurity.
Undeterred by the distractions that have hitertho converted the core mandates of Nigerian legislators from Legislations to provision of portable drinking water, hospital equipment, construction of roads, provision of a conducive schooling environment, disbursement of scholarships and general Human Capital Development.
Dachung Musa Bagos has since joined the National Assembly, keyed into the dreams of many Nigerians to strengthen existing Institutions for the growth and development of the Nigeria.
Unlike a first timer, he has sponsored bills that sought to shape institutional operations across the country. For instance “Fire And Rescue Service Bill 2019” “National Universities Commission Act (Repeal and Enactment) Bill 2019″ Nigeria Solid Minerals and Mining Bill 2019” and 29 other bills, as an intelligent legislator, the bills sponsored by Dachung Bagos are the kind to block institutional leakages and corruption for the benefit of all Nigerians.
While distinguishing himself as a true legislator he has raised motions of urgent importance that touched on insecurity, audit of financial activities in government agencies, mining activities and many others that pushed to recognize Nigerians that are making the country proud at home and in the diaspora.
With this energy, Nigeria is sure on the right path to institutional growth through proper legislation. It is therefore no time for business as usual as the national Assembly isn’t a place for retirement, neither is it a place to go and sleep. States across the country must begin to elect leaders with the energy, intelligence and vast knowledge of this young legislator; he should be the measuring tool for anyone fit to be in the National Assembly.
With the likes of Dachung Musa Bagos retuning and joining the National Assembly in 2023, Nigeria is sure going to witness unceasing transformation through legislation which will inturn keep the executive arm in check as desired by Nigerians.
