JTF rescues 14 kidnap victims, kills 10 bandits in operation

Joint Task Force in Niger State have successfully rescued 14 kidnapped victims at Uregi community in Rafi Local Government in Niger State.

Similarly, the joint forces had during an offensive operation embarked on Wednesday along the community successfully neautrilsed 10 terrorists who were to carry out an attack on Uregi community.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Internal Security in Niger State, Mr Emmanuel Umar in a statement issued on Thursday, and obtained CAPITAL POST in Minna.

The statement disclosed that 7 motorcycles and some arms and amunitions were recovered from the armed men who were to wreck havock on the local community in Uregi.

The Commissioner further hinted that the joint forces and men of the tactical squad swiftly responded and mobilized to the location where hoodlums were engaged around Uregi and Kinibo village and as a result,10 of the terrorists were gun down by the joint forces.

“10 of these terrorists who were to offensive mission to the peaceful community were neutralized by these gallant efforts of the joint taskforce and men of the tactical squad.

“Also 14 kidnapped victims who were in their captivity for some days were rescued” it stated.

According to the statement, the bandits wanted to disrupt the peaceful Eid-fitr in the area by launching dangerous attack on Kawo and Uregi villages” but men of the joint force swiftly repelled the attack.

“On the 02- 05-2022, that is on the celebration of the Eid-fitr festival, at about 1700 hours, armed men believed to be terrorists in their large numbers on motorcycles attempted to attack Kawo and Uregi villages in Rafi Local Government to disrupt the recent Sallah festival in the state, on the receipt of the information, the gallant men of the joint taskforce security repelled thair attack killing 10 of the terrorists on the spot while 14 captives were rescued by the squad.”

He commended the efforts of the joint taskforce for their quick response in engaging the hoodlums and neutralizing them.
