The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Namdi Kanu may lose his United Kingdom citizenship over terrorism activities.

The development followed the UK’s designation of IPOB as a terrorist organisation.

CAPITAL POST recalled that Nigerian government has classified IPOB as a terrorist organisation and went ahead to proscribe it.

But Kanu who has dual citizenship has been operating from the shores of the United Kingdom, with his foot soldiers carrying out terrorism activities in the South East Nigeria

However, the UK on Thursday after thorough scrutiny of IPOB’s activities endorsed Nigeria’s classification of the group as a terrorist organisation with the implication of Nnamdi Kanu losing his citizenship.

Kanu is currently in detention in Nigeria following his arrest in Kenya and his deportation to Nigeria.

IPOB has established a militant arm called Eastern Security Network (ESN) who for the past years operate from the forests around the South East. The group were trained and fully armed against the State, even as they have been killing, maiming and destroying government infrastructure in the South East.

They have been involved in all form of illegalities in the South including sit-at-home order every Mondays.
