2023: I’ll engage Traditional Rulers, Vigilante to end Plateau insecurity – Governorship aspirant
A Philanthropist and the 2023 Plateau governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Kefas Wungak Ropshik has disclosed that the best approach and solution to end the insecurity challenges in Plateau State is to engage all traditional rulers and Vigilantes in the various communities.
He said the traditional institution which is supposed to be number one foundation for information collection as far as security is concerned has been relegated to the background.
Hon. Ropshik who is also known as Kefiano disclose this at NUJ Secretariat Jos during a press conference to declare his intention to contest the 2023 Plateau Governorship seat.
He said security of the state is his focus and if elected, he will go into proper engagement with the traditional institutions and also focus more on community policing to tackle security challenges to the barest minimum in all parts of the State.
He added that the traditional rulers gathered more intelligence than what the States and Federal Governments would gather and as such, he will take the advantage to strengthen the traditional institutions for proper security across the State.
He noted that in empowering the traditional institutions with relevant policies, adequate funding must be made available to the institution to run efficiently in tackling issues bordering on insecurity.
According to him, for proper security of lives and property of our people and the prompt containment of growing challenges, we must inevitably now engage our traditional institutions.
“This is because the leaders who look after our people are the traditional rulers and as such, traditional institutions cannot be left out in finding a lasting solution to security challenges.
The governor worship aspirant added that he want to be a role model for the youths on the Plateau if given the opportunity to govern the state, saying leadership and wisdom is not govern by age, acknowledging that his philanthropic disposition speaks volumes for him as his foundation reach out to thousands of Nigerians.
According to him, ” looking at the demography of Plateau political history it is occupied by older generation. It is time to give the opportunity to young people. The youth should not be relegated to the background.
“If given the mandate to serve, I have a strong conviction and desire to take Plateau out of poverty by identifying and engaging youths and women across the 17 LGAs on entrepreneurship as leadership and governance is all about wealth creation and taking people out of poverty.
He debunk rumor that he is being sponsored by Governor Lalong, saying he is qualified to take decision by himself.
“No body is sponsoring my campaign. I have the capacity and I want to change the narrative of governance as far as Plateau State concerned by improving the livelihood of the citizens.
