Eid-il-Fitr: Borno CP assures citizens of adequate security

As citizens prepare for Eid-il-Fitr celebration, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Abdul Umar, felicitates and rejoices with the Muslim community throughout the state on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-fitr.

In a statement on Saturday which was signed by the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, Sani Kamilu Muhammed, the CP ordered that security be strengthened across the State capital and its environ before, during and after
the Eid-el-fitr celebration to mark the end of the Ramadan fast by Muslim faithful.

CP Umar directed all the formation Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, operational commanders and all other tactical units of the force to ensure visibility patrol, crowd control and implementation of robust anti-crime prevention and control strategies in their respective areas of responsibilities to ensure adequate security of lives and properties.

“They are also to beef up security in the entire linking roads, entry and exit points, major highways, city centres, worship centres, recreational centres, Government installations/properties and other strategic locations in their areas.

“The Commissioner of Police is also not unmindful of the volume of traffic
occasioned by the Sallah holidays and advised members of the public to
cooperate with Policemen deployed for traffic control duties to ease traffic
congestion in the city centres.

He further warned men on stop and search as well as other crime prevention duties to be courteous, professional and avoid acts that may bring the Force to disrepute.

“To this end, the CP is hereby imploring
members of the public, especially travelers and other road users to cooperate with Police personnel deployed on the highways and other duty posts across the
state.

“Subsequently, restriction of vehicular movement from 6:00am to 11:00am
during the Sallah day is hereby declared to ease free movement to and fro the
praying ground, the general public particularly the celebrant are advised to be at the praying ground as early as possible so as to avoid unnecessary congestion and crowding and for other security reasons.

“Equally parent/guardians should
warn their ward/children against forming groups of gangs while constituting nuisance to the peace loving people of the state.

“Finally, the Commissioner of Police wishes all Muslim faithful and other
residents in the Atate a happy, peaceful and crime-free Eid-el-fitr celebration.”

He enjoins them to be security conscious, vigilant and report any suspicious incidents or happenings observed within their neighborhood to the nearest Police station considering the security threat being faced by the State.
