Rivers governorship aspirant, Dagogo arrested, taken away from PDP Screening hall
The 2023 Rivers governorship aspirant and member representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Farah Dagogo has been arrested by the Police on Thursday in Port Harcourt.
He was arrested when he appeared for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) screening and whisked away to an unknown location, according to a Facebook post by his Special Adviser on Media, Ibrahim Lawal.
The lawmaker was arrested inside a hall
where PDP governorship aspirants were being screened in Port Harcourt by men of the Rivers State Police Command.
Hon. Dagogo and Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike have been at daggers drawn on political issues and the governor has declared him wanted.
Rivers governor alleged that the lawmaker was hiring thugs to burn down Rivers PDP Secretariat an allegations he denied, saying that Wike was making sure that he is prevented from appearing before the Screening Committee.
The lawmaker has been averse to misgovernance in Rivers and believed that if he is voted into office in 2023 as governor of Rivers State, he would vacate the perpetual injunction against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies to investigate the accounts of Rivers State government.
Mr Lawal disclosed this in a Facebook post on Thursday, saying:
“Mr Dagogo was arrested in the governorship screening hall by some police officers and taken to an unknown location,” he said in the post.
He said, Dagogo was willing to make himself available to the Police if invited after the governorship screening.
Rivers State Police Command has not release a statement confirming or denying the arrest yet.
