Insecurity: Criminal elements planning to bomb worship centres, infrastructure – DSS
The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has uncovered plans by some criminal elements to form an alliance among themselves with a view to launching attack on critical infrastructure, worship and relaxation centres especially during and after the holidays and festive celebrations.
This was contained in a statement signed by the service Public Relations Officer, Dr. Peter Afunanya on Tuesday in Abuja.
Dr Afunanya explained that the attack is already reported in some areas noting that the intention of this criminal gang is to return the country to the pre-2015 era reminiscent of IED attacks on soft and hard targets in parts of the country.
The DSS also said the objective of the attack is to achieve some self- serving interests as well as cause fear among the citizenry.
The PRO however expressed the service commitment to partner with other security agencies to disrupt this pattern of violent attacks. He further advised patrons, owners and managers of aforementioned public places to be wary of this development and implement basic security measures to deter the threats.
He encouraged residents to go about their lawful businesses and share with security and law enforcement agencies, useful information on the activities of criminals.
