Road to 2023 Presidency: Open letter to all South East; Nigeria’s political power brokers
By Ikenna Asomba
It’s 10:41pm CST (Friday, April 22, 2022), and I’ve just woken up from my customary naps, here and there, to pen this strong-worded open letter to all undecisive South East Political Power Brokers, as well as other undecisive Political Power Brokers from across Nigeria’s five other geo-political zones.
It was Spanish philosopher, George Santayana, who warned: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
Similarly, former United Kingdom Prime Minister, Winston Churchill warned: “Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.”
History is food and wine to men and women who want to learn and re-learn from the past.
Akin to the abovementioned, I agree with the eternal Holy Book, when it wrote in Ecclesiates 1:9: “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”
Ahead of Nigeria’s 2023 Presidential elections, giving the pulse of the nation, today, and as well, considering three major National Ideals- JUSTICE, EQUITY and COMPETENCY, Nigerians, irrespective of the ethnic nationalities, cultures and religions, are religiously yearning for an Experienced Reformer like the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi.
It’s truism, that of all aspirants that have thrown their hats into the ring for the 2023 Presidential elections, Obi remains the primus inter pares (the first among equals). Obi is about the only candidate, talking Key Economic and Political Indicators of Governance, dating as far back as 2002.
It’s against this backdrop, that over 48million Nigerian Youths, at home and in the Diaspora, making up over 51.1 per cent of Nigeria’s more than 84million Registered Voters are earnestly rooting for and yearning for the Presidency of an Experienced Reformer like Peter Obi.
That said, if you are a close watcher of Nigeria’s Political Firmament, you will agree with me that there is an ongoing Tsunamic Movement called OBISM or OBI-ISM, rocking Nigeria’s super information highway, the mainstream media, as well as Nigeria’s Local communities. This factor should send an early morning signal to all South East Power Brokers, et al, that OBI-ISM is a Movement whose time has come.
What’s Obism or Obi-ism?
“The study of fundamental Economic and Political Indicators of Governance which transmogrify a Nation-State, Nation or Country, from a Failing State or Failed State to a Saner and Prosperous Clime.
2023 and beyond, towards the emancipation and advancement of the tottering Nigerian State; towards saving Nigeria from its current state of decay and looming decomposition, there is an urgent need for all Political Power Brokers from the South East, et al, to join millions of Nigerians, to build a singularly focused community to achieving a Peter Obi’s 2023 Presidency.
Achieving the Peter Obi’s 2023 Presidency, is the first quest to entrenching Liberty, Good Governance and other Democratic Ideals in Nigeria.
1960, till date, the Nigerian People have cried so much, and enough. To wipe their tears, thus, giving them a lasting succor, gift them an Experienced Reformer like Peter Obi, alongside a Progressive Cabinet, (2023-2031).
Going forward, advocating and advancing the Peter Obi’s Presidency 2023, has become a glorious cause. Any democratic means to achieving it, is a Holy Crusade, divinely sanctioned by God Almighty.
When the Iyorchia Ayu-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), finally clears the coast for a Peter Obi’s Presidency 2023, among other Key Political Indicators of Governance, a Copious Public Policy Program centered on the below 11 Key Economic Indicators of Governance is loading….
They include: Markets, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Labour, Prices, Money, Trade, Government, Business, Consumer, Taxes, Climate.
I reiterate, to saving Nigeria from its current state of decay and looming decomposition, a Peter Obi’s Presidency is geared to formulating deep-rooted Public and Foreign Policy Programs, largely centred on the abovementioned.
