Breaking: Federal High Court sacks former House of Reps Speaker, Dogara
The former House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara has been sacked and his seat declared vacant by a Federal High Court.
Dogara who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the height of crisis with Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed.
His defection became a subject of litigation as the PDP dragged him to Court to vacate his seat.
The embattled ex-Speaker represents Bogoro/Dass Federal constituency of Bauchi State, was the Speaker of the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019.
The presiding Judge, D.U. Okorowo, on Friday, ruled that Mr Dogara’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was wrong and meant he should vacate the legislative seat.
