Kidnappers of Akwa Ibom popular pastor demand for N100 million ransom
Suspected gun men who kidnapped Akwa Ibom based televangelist and founder of Solid Rock Kingdom Church (SRKC) Apostle John Okoriko are currently demanding for N100 million ransom.
The Clergy who was kidnapped on Tuesday evening has his Church based in the community of Ibekwe Akpan Nya in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Eyewitness said, about five men fully armed stormed his Church where he also lives and abducted him to a yet to be identified location.
The gunmen were said to have climbed over the back yard fence before having access into the property.
Apostle Okoriko was also said to have drove into his compound in his Lexus SUV few minutes before the gun men picked him up.
“After successfully scaling the fence, the gunmen began shooting intermittently and forced their way into his sitting room, where they dragged the elderly man, forcing neighbours to flee for safety,” a neighbour, Bassey Asuquo, told reporters.
He claimed that Police operatives were promptly notified and that several volunteer youths assisted the Police in combing the bushes for Pastor Okoriko, but to no avail.
Family members confirmed to journalists in Uyo that kidnappers have contacted them and are demanding for the sum ofN100 million ransom before he will be released.
SP Odiko Macdon, spokeswoman for the state police command, confirmed the incident in a brief statement on Wednesday.
