Call for interim gov’t: Shehu Sani replies Afe Babalola, says Nigeria needs credible election
Following calls by Afe Babalola that the 2023 general election be suspended and interim government be put in place for six months, former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Shehu Sani differed, saying, what Nigeria need is credible election.
He said, though, the founder of Afe Babalola University University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUJA) is an elderstateman and a respected legal luminary, his suggestion is unconstitutional and counterproductive to Nigerian democracy.
Senator Sani reacted through his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, insisting that, “we don’t need any interim government. We need a credible election and new leadership with a sound vision to unite, protect and rebuild this country.
It is recalled that Afe Babalola (SAN) suggested the suspension of the 2023 general election, constitute interim government for six months; calls for a draft of fresh Constitution; and all Senators and House of Representatives should be placed on part time rather than full time.
