Abducted businessman found dead in Kogi as N6m ransom bearing brother slept in forest
Mr Yahaya Hassan Musa who was abducted on his way from a business trip from the Republic of Benin was found dead hours after a N6 million ransom was paid to his abductors.
His travail started when he was abducted in a forest around Mopa area in Kogi West Senatorial district which his abductors demanded for a ransom of N10 million.
In an explanation by his brother, Abubakar Hassan Musa who took N6 million ransom to the kidnappers in Kogi forest, he said his late brother a father of two used to fly whenever he travelled, but that on that fateful trip he decided to return by road.
According to him, kidnappers told him to take the money to a particular location in Kabba which he delivered. After he was directed to where he will meet with his late brother in the forest in Kabba, but on getting there, he did see him and he has to sleep in the forest that night.
“The following day I continued searching until a woman who was kidnapped alongside my brother called me and said they killed him before even collecting the ransom, but that she didn’t know where they dumped his body.
“I went back to the nearby town and hired hunters to get back into the forest and search for the corpse. After trekking many kilometers, we found his decomposing corpse.”
He said because they couldn’t find a bus to carry the corpse because of its decaying condition, they buried him in the bush according Islamic rites after consulting the family in Kano.
