A 49 years old native doctor, Said Mohammed has been ordered to be kept in correctional facility on the order of the Chief Magistrate, Hajia Hawa Kulu Isah of Magistrate court No 1, Minna.
The native doctor was said to have decietfully collected the sum of Three million, seven hundred thousand naira (N3.700,000) from unsuspecting job seekers with the pretence of securing a job for them.
According to Police First Information Report made available in court and obtained by this reporter, said that one Zubairu Dalhatu of Bida town in Niger State had forwarded a report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), that some time in the year 2020, “you Saidu Mohammed of Bokun village in Agaie Local Government in Niger State, also disguised to be the Chief Imam of Nami village and an elder brother to the Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service, (FIRS), Mohammed Nami that you have three jobs offers of Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, and Nigeria Immigration Service NIS. “Under such pretence, you collected the sum of N3.700,000 from him to secure the said job for him and his friend.
“But Instead, you dishonesty converted the money entrusted to you to your personal use. And disappeared to unknown destination. Untill police detective swung into action and arrested you.
“During police investigation you confessed to the crime.”
He was standing trial on three count charges which bothered on criminal breach of trust, cheating by impersonation and criminal misappropriation.
The count charges, according to the police prosecutor, Inspector Aliyu Yakubu Kuta were punishable under section 312, 322 324 and 309 of the penal code.
When the charges were read to him by the Chief Magistrate, Hajiya Hauwa Kulu Isah, the Native Doctor pleaded guilty to the 1st and 3rd count charges, but pleaded not guilty to the other charges.
However, he was convicted on the two of the charges, but, the sentence was deffered with an order by the chief Magistrate to the prosecutor to prove the charge no 2 and the case adjourned to 19 April, 2022 while he was ordered to be remanded in the Minna correctional facility.
