Miyetti Allah denies involvement in Benue killings
Fulani Socio-Cultural group, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Benue State Chapter has denied involvement of its members in the killing of innocent people in the State.
The Association reacted in a statement issued and made available to journalists in Makurdi on Thursday by Ando Mohammed and Ibrahim Galma, Chairman and Secretary respectively, stating that they were not involved in attacks in the three Local Government Areas that led to death of 25 persons on Monday.
The group there are Fulani herdsmen in
Tarka and Guma Local Government areas of the State.
While commiserating with the victims, the group urged security operatives to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime.
“MACBAN, Benue State chapter condemns the acts of brutal killings of innocent people in Logo, Guma and Tarka local government areas of Benue State.
“Our condolences to the families of the victims of the attacks, Benue State Government and the entire people of the state for the loss.
“We wish to state that the attacks were not carried out by our members in the state as is being brandied because there is no single Fulani herder in Tarka and in Guma local government areas.
“Therefore, we call on the security agencies to go after the culprits of the crime and apprehend them so as to face the wrath of the law,” the statement read in part.
Meanwhile, governor Samuel Ortom has called on citizens to defend themselves in the endless attacks.
He also accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s government of paying lip service to killings in the State
