Visit of Senators Wives Association to Women Affairs Minister: The needed synergy for nation’s growth

The recent visit of the Senators Wives Association led by its chairperson, Barr (Dr) Halima Kabir Gaya to the Minister of Women Affairs is indeed a welcome development. The courtesy call on one of their own was for the wonderful manner she has handled the Ministry and her introduction of policies and programmes to enhance the overall developments of women in all its ramifications in the country.

The visit, therefore, has significance, in many ways especially now that every hand need to be on deck to confront frontally the many challenges being faced by the women in the country. So, it is important to point out that, this visit is explorative.The members of the Senators Wives Association of the 9th Senate have eminently stood to be counted because as wives to the Senators, the influence they have on their hushands cannot be overemphasized.

Change of Name

During the visit the wives of the Senators used the occassion in also appreciating and praising the wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari for not shying away from supporting her husband the President, General Muhammadu Buhari.

They are particularly proud that she also do not shy away from being the number one critic of his administration when things do not go right and this her singular action has greatly shown that the Nigerian women are truly the embodiment of truth and peace.

During the visit, they also extolled the leadership qualities of the Senate President for the prompt attention paid to bills and motions that placed greater emphases to the upliftment of children and womens developments. They lauded the Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan for having the courage and mettle in condemning outrightly the happenings in the country especially in respect to insecurity, ASUU strike and all other social vices and menance bedevilling our country today. This visit is important in many respects especially as it has the urge to grease the elbow of the honourable Minister of Women Affairs to do more for women in the country.

The robust style of administration of the Minister was also extolled by the wives of the Senators and for her unflinching support for the womenfolk especially during the period of the ravaging COVID-19 scourge.

Her unflinching supports also for the women by speaking for the women of Nigeria and the encouragement that the Minister and particularly the present administration offers to the cause of the women.

They have therefore come for the purpose of appreciation and to express moving forward their unalloyed loyalty and supports to the Minister to ensure that the mandate given to her by the president is acheived.

The visit also was to admonish the Minister and the rest of her team to ensure that all enemies of the Nigerian state are wiped out with the firepower of our gallant military and that is message to the President through the minister.They paid tribute to the lost soldiers and their families who gallantly paid the supreme price to keep us safe and pray that may their soul rest in perfect peace.

They also during the visit, proposed to have a prayer session at the Senate chambers beginning with a walk from the gate of the National Assembly Chambers of the Senate and with the permission of the presiding officers, the President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly used the opportunity of the visit to invite the Minister to the event.
