The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Prof. Ralphs Nwosu on Wednesday, disclosed that three category of aspirants would get the party’s nomination form free to contest 1023 elections.

In a statement which he issued and made available to journalists in Abuja, he said the gesture was to encourage the category of persons to contest elections without being helpless as a result of lack of fund to purchase nomination forms.

Change of Name

Those to benefit from free nomination forms are women, people living with disabilities (PLWD) and youths who are aspiring to contest for elective political offices at all levels during the 2023 general election.

He believed that development would strengthen inclusiveness for women, youths and PWDs in the governance of the country which is much needed at this time.

According to him, these category of persons are unique in their ways and should be considered critical to the growth and development of the country, hence, they should be given opportunity to contribute their quota.

He noted that since the demography represents a critical mass of the nation’s population, giving them opportunity to seek elective offices by removing financial inhibitions posed by high cost of nomination forms in most political parties in the country is ADC’s contribution to the growth of the nation’s democracy and development.

Nwosu said: “The National leadership of the ADC has resolved to waive cost of nomination forms for our women, youths and people living with disabilities who wish to partake in the 2023 general elections.

“The ADC is convinced that majority of our women, youths and persons living with disabilities are capable and competent to contest elections and participate in governance in the country, hence the need to waive nomination fees to enable them realise their hitherto repressed political aspirations.

He said, the nation would experience expeditious development with substantial number of women, youths and PLWD in politics.
