2023: 192 aspirants jostling for PDP tickets, purchases nomination forms in Plateau
A total of 192 aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Plateau State have so far purchased nomination forms to contest various positions from Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly.
Chairman of the PDP in Plateau State Hon. Chris Hassan disclosed this while addressing State Executive Committee Members (SEC) at the Party secretariat during the weekend.
Hassan said so far based on their records as from Saturday 9th April, 2023, 19 aspirants for the Governorship, 16 for the Senate while 20 for House of Representatives and 137 for the State House of Assembly.
According to him, the large number of aspirants is an indication that the party is ready to take over power from the failed All Progressives Congress in the State.
He said the Party Executives in the State will be fair to all aspirants during the primaries slated for next month.
Meanwhile, the PDP State Executive Committee during the SEC meeting in Jos, zone the Governorship position to Plateau Central Senatorial District of the State.
A communique issued by the State PDP Publicity Secretary, Hon. John Akans at the end of the SEC meeting attended by the leader of the oarty in the State and former Governor Jonah Jang, said, SEC unanimously approved the zoning of Governorship seat to Plateau Central Senatorial district.
“SEC notes with delight that Plateau people and indeed Nigerians are at this moment looking up to the Peoples Democratic Party with great hope for solutions to all the predicaments this present administration has caused. It therefore urges all party members to remain resolute in the vision and mission of the party to Rescue and Rebuild Plateau State.
“As regards the preparation for the forth coming general elections in 2023, SEC unanimously approves the zoning of Governorship seat to Plateau central senatorial district”.
Senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly Sen. Istifanus Dung Gyang, House of Reps and State Assembly members amongst other attended the SEC meeting.
