Insecurity is beyond religion, says Rev. Pam
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Dr Yakubu Pam who also doubles as the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN 19TH Northern states including FCT, has said that the insecurity the nation is currently facing goes beyond religion.
He made the disclosure on Monday during the first Quarter of the National Executive Council meeting of the Christian Association of Nigeria, 19 Northern States including FCT holding in Abuja.
In the words of the NCPC boss, “today we are very sad because of the situation of the country”. He explained that the NEC meeting of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN would have been held in Kaduna being the headquarters of the Association but was moved to Abuja because of the precarious insecurity situation in Kaduna.
The Chairman of CAN 19th Northern States further affirmed, “The insecurity situation of Nigeria has made the Church, the government and people to stand still looking for answers”. He lamented, “We have seen children, women being slaughtered, our country has become a blood pool”.
Rev. Pam averred that the solution to the insecurity situation in Nigeria lies in the hands of God, stating that no one should under estimate the powers of God.
He called on the government at all levels and the people to rise up to the occasion. He further enjoined some prominent statesmen in the North particularly some of the former No 1 citizens in Nigeria to join forces with the government to proffer solution to the insecurity situation in the North.
Rev. Pam further enjoined President Muhammadu Buhari to call for a strategic stakeholders meeting of northerners with a view to finding out a lasting solution to the insecurity situation in the North.
He listed some of the causes of insecurity in the North such as lack of employment opportunities affecting the youths in the region as well as the porous nature of our borders and poor intelligence gathering by security agencies.
A handful of the chairmen of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN from various states in the North and FCT as well as the Executive members of the Northern CAN graced the occasion.
