Kogi fleeing murder suspect arrested in woman’s house

A fleeing murder suspect in Nwajala in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State, Joseph Omale has been arrested for alledgedly stabbing Mr. Benjamin Omeh to death following a dispute over the leadership of a cultural dance group.

Josep Omale, a native of Ifonu clan, reportedly fled the community after killing Omeh, who hailed from Ojobo clan in Nwajala and sought refuge in an unidentified woman’s house at Odeke also in Ibaji Local Government Area.

The suspect was nabbed by local vigilantes and security operatives after a tip off by some people in the community having been declared wanted few weeks back.

The Senior Special Assistant to the state governor on security in charge of Ibaji LGA, Hon. Williams Ikoojo, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, said he has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Area Command in Idah for further investigation and prosecution.

“As part of our efforts to root out insecurity and ensure peace in Ibaji LGA we have apprehended Mr. Joseph Omale, the (alleged) killer of Benjamin Omeh with the aid of Vigilante groups in Ibaji.

“Joseph Omale from Ifonu clan stabbed Benjamin Omeh from Ojobo clan both of Nwajala Community.

“Benjamin lost his precious life over an argument on who leads the community’s cultural dance group.

“Mr. Joseph Omale has been on the run but finally, he was arrested where he hide in a woman’s house in Odeke Community.” Ikoojo said.
