2023 Kaduna governorship: Group laments terrorism, says Shehu Sani is only aspirant with capacity to tackle insecurity
A group operating under the aegis of Kaduna Development Support Forum (KDSF), has lamented the reign of terrorism in Kaduna State, saying that the 2023 general election provides opportunity for the people to decide.
The group expressed concern at the endless killings and attacks on daily basis, stating that Senator Shehu Sani has capacity to tackle terrorists and criminals out of all aspirants who are aspiring to govern the State.
Coordinator of Kaduna based group,
Abdulhakeem Hameed Alao in a press statement made available to journalists on Saturday said, the situation is worse under the present leadership that Kaduna citizens could no longer sleep with eyes closed without losing their lives overnight.
Alao said government has failed to secure citizens, hence, Kaduna people should give Senator Shehu Sani a chance, which they believed has the strategy more than anyone to tackle insecurity, describing failure on side of government to provide security as unfortunate and pathetic.
According to the group, the ex-lawmaker in the upper legislative Chamber and Civil Rights Activist has demonstrated commitment in and out of government for the people to repose in him confidence to do their bidding.
The group said: “This is why we have decided to come out strongly to recommend support for Senator Shehu Sani as the only viable voice that fought; spoke and advised the federal government on the best security strategies to adopt to contain the insecurity challenges while in the Senate.
Shehu Sani is a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election and has been in the vanguard of advocating end to killings in Kaduna and across the country.
The group in the statement posited that government has failed in curtailing the firepower of gunmen, given the high level of terrorism in Kaduna and across the country.
They condemned in strong terms what they described as “Dastardly acts” of the gunmen who attacked the Airport, Train and major highways in Kaduna recently.
Adding that the recent attacks in Giwa , Southern Kaduna and other parts of the State could have be contained if the right security strategy and approach were deployed to prevent them.
“You can’t afford to handle heinous crimes with kid gloves .There must a combined and coordinated forces from all security agencies to stop the attackers’, the statement maintained.
