Borno Police records 25 cases, arrests 46 suspects in 4 months – CP
The Borno State Police Commissioner, CP Abdu Umar has paraded 46 suspects who were arrested from January to April 2022 , first quarter of the year as part of crimes preventions and intelligence operations of the Borno state Police Command headquarters Maiduguri in safeguarding the lives and property of the citizenry.
Parading the suspects before journalists at the police command headquarters Maiduguri, Friday, the CP said 25 cases were also recorded by the command as part of the achievements it has
accomplished which could not be made possible without the assurances of media’s unalloyed support and commitment towards discharging our statutory responsibility.
“We seek for a robust Police Public Partnership in the continuous fight against criminal elements, as the quest of securing the society is everybody’s business. The Borno Command during the period under review is not unmindful of the security challenges bedeviling the State amongst which are ,culpable homicide kidnappings, armed robbery and rape just to mention but a few.
“However, remarkable efforts were not spared in addressing the situation which culminates into the relative peace currently being enjoyed by law abiding citizens in the State. Notwithstanding, having support from the Inspector General of Police IGP Alkali Baba Usman psc(+), NPM, fdc in terms of manpower and logistics as well as the unwavering assistance from the State Government.
The Police Commissioner added that the Command took some decisive approaches in tackling these challenges which were all result oriented that ushered in a high level of calmness in our communities and the state as a whole through crime preventive intelligence which led to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of arms ammunition in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council MMC.
While on 30/03/2022 at about 0722hrs, a credible intelligence and Surveillance Team of the command who were on morning patrol arrested one Clement Asuk ‘M’ of Akamkpa L.G.A of Cross River State at Kano Motor Park with the following exhibit, 126 Anti Air Craft ammunition, 222 of 7.62mm of Life ammunition, 517 of 7.62mm by 51 life ammunition and 7.62mm By 39 life ammunition.
Others include 2 Empty Magazines of Ak47 , 4 Rpg Prepare Lent , 1 Hand Groaned , 5 Perfume, Application Form of Nigeria Navy, 3 Tooth Piece, 2 Small Carton of Fish 1 Anti Aircraft Ammunition Belt, 3 Pg – 7pm Preparelent , One Wrist Watch, 5 Rings, Cowries , One Infinix Phone , One Charger, The Sum of ₦15,250 Nigerian Currency, One Note of 10000 Korea Currency, One Trouser, One Shirt, One Towel , One Boxer ,and Thread .
Others include One Action Better Two Akapaka Batteries , One Selma (Mei Zaaki) , 3 Gold Circles ,Two Keys, One Tooth Brush , One Meinnah 120 Drugs and Cham ,2 Vaselin Blueseal investigation towards unveiling their past atrocities has commenced.
He added that in rape case, Usman Haruna ‘M’ 29yrs old of Askira/Uba Borno State and Zakariya Ya’u 46yrs old of the same address as suspects and Mambudu Bello ‘F’ 92yrs old of the same address as victims. While on 24/03/2022 at about 1300hrs One Usman Haruna ‘M’ of Askira/Uba L.G.A of Borno State reported at Askira/Uba Division that one Zakariya Ya’u ‘M’ 46yrs old of the same address forcefully had a canal knowledge/sexual intercourse with one Wamdubu Bello ‘F’ 92yrs old of the same address. Case is under investigation.
Bilkisu Ali A.K.A Ummi ‘f’ 22yrs a defence trafficking with
victim, Hadiza Modu ‘f’ 3yrs old on the 31/1/2022 at about 1100hrs, one Mohammed Modu ‘m’ of Bama town, reported at Konduga Police Station that, on the same date at about 1200hrs, one Bilkisu Ali A.K.A Ummi ‘f’ 22yrs of Konduga IDP Camp also a volunteer CJTF Konduga LGA, took his 3yrs old daughter named Hadiza Modu ‘f’ with intend to go and sell to one Madam Joy ‘f’ surname unknown ‘f’ of Abia State who is now at large.
The victim was rescued at Damaturu, Yobe State unhurt by the Police. Case under investigation.
SUSPECTS: (1) Modu Haske ‘m’ 45yrs old , Abatcha Ali Mari ‘m’ 45yrs old , Ali Mari ‘m’ 25yrs old , Ali Yana Gajimi ‘m’ 21yrs old , Musa Bulama Modu ‘m’ 30yrs old, Ba Mamman ‘m’ at large. And victims 1 Ismail Mai Jibo ‘m’ 29yrs old , Shedo Ali ‘m’ 30yrs old , Yuse Bukar ‘m’ 32yrs old and Adamu Umar ‘m’ 61yrs old.5
The CP Umar said ón 20/3/2022 at about 0900hrs some suspected criminals conspired, broke into a motor vehicle (Toyota starlet) belonging to one Ibrahim Isa, a hunter at Fuma village, Azare, Hawul LGA and stole his pump action gun with three cartridges when he locked it therein and was working on his farmland.
That on 26/3/2022 at about 2300hrs, the suspects criminally conspired with two others at large and went to the house of one Adamu Abdu at Tashan Alade of the same LGA, beat him up and attempted to kidnapped him after firing a shot using the pump action. Fortunately the victim was not injured.
That the hoodlums subsequently run away but were later traced and arrested by the police at Hawul when the case was reported to them. Suspects confessed to the crime EXHIBITS:
1. One Pump Action Gun
2. One empty shell of a cartridge and
3. Two live cartridges..
On 22/03/2022 at about 1230hrs, Crack Operatives arrested three (3) suspects who are all residents of Jajeri ward Maiduguri, after dismantling and stealing a long armoured cable from a transformer stationed near a Texaco Filling Station at Jajeri Maiduguri.
The suspects confessed to the crime and led Crack operatives to the recovery of the stolen property, belonging to the Borno state Government. Investigation towards unveiling their past atrocities has commenced.
On 21/03/2022 at about 1730hrs, one Moshood Abdulsalam ‘M’ of pompomari ward Maiduguri, reported at Crack Office that, on 17/03/2022 at night time unknown person(s) broke into his store at Pompomari, stole six (6) of his solar batteries valued N1,020,000, tentacles were spread by Crack Operatives .
Fortunately on 22/03/2022 at about 1330hrs, one of the stolen batteries was found in possession of the above named suspect who claimed to have bought it from another person. Investigation aim towards the arrest of the hoodlums is being intensified.
He said these suspects, Jidda Ibrahim ‘M’ 18yrs, Ibrahim Saidu ‘m’ 18yrs ,
Idris Garba ‘M’ 17yrs, Mohammed Mustapha ‘M’ 21yrs and Mohammed Abdulraham ‘M’ 21yrs while on 19/03/2022 at about 1245hrs, a group of hoodlums from Mairi ward Maiduguri gang named “Mai Zuga group” armed with swords, sticks, and knives, attacked another group of hoodlums tagged “Yayafe” at Mairi area, engaged them in weapons fight.
CP Umar noted that similarly, following a misunderstanding that ensued amongst them on 18/03/2022 at about 1700hrs, during a wedding cultural dance in the area, which resulted to burning of some benches by the Yayafe group belonging to Mai Zuga group, in reprisal, the Mai Zuga group decided to violently visit and attacked the Yayafe group,.
According to him, the hoodlums inflicted injuries on one another, on receipt of a distress call, Crack Operatives rushed to the scene and arrested five suspects . Two swords, three sticks and two knives were recovered from them. Hunt for other members of the two groups who fled on sighting teams is on top gear
On 15/03/2022 at about 1530hrs, a group of hoodlums tagged Markas group from Bolori II Maiduguri numbering about twelve (12), all armed with swords and knives visited another group of hoodlums tagged Santiago group also armed with dangerous weapons at Baga road area, engaged them in a weapons fight in reprisal to attack on one of their members two months ago, where he was inflicted with injuries on his legs, the two groups were fighting themselves when information reached crack office, teams were mobilized to the scene, one Ba Modu Umar ‘M’ 19yrs was arrested armed with a long sword while others fled to various locations on sighting teams, they are being trailed for possible arrest.
On 11/3/2022 at about 1950hrs, base on information, Crack Operatives arrested the above named suspects who are all residents of Dala ward Maiduguri, armed with knives, cutlasses and horns. along Dala Mashamari Primary School, who engaged in a fight amongst themselves, Sunisi Dayyabu used a knife and stabbed one Mohammed Modu Mohammed (M) 20yrs on his chest, victim was rushed to Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital Maiduguri where he was certified death by the medical doctor, Corpse deposited in the Hospital Morgue for autopsy and Medical report, investigation is in progress.
Following a distress call from one Ma’aji Mohammed (M) a Principal of Arabic Teacher’s College Moduganari Maiduguri, that one of his students Musa Muazu (M) 16yrs, was seen with a sharp knife in his School bag, preparatory to reprisal attack on some students of neighbouring School GDSS Moduganari Maiduguri, hence the apprehension in the school Crack Operatives swiftly rushed to the School in plain clothes and arrested the suspect Musa Muazu (M) and recovered the knife the suspect confessed to the crime, mentioned his accomplices for the intended mission as, Adamu Bakura (M), Habu Salisu (M), both of the same school however, the duo on sighting the arrest of this suspect run away from the School. The school authority is trailing them.
On 7/3/2022 at about 2022hrs, a distress call was received in this office, that a group of youths armed with swords, knives, sticks and daggers, were fighting at Bulabulin Bulabure area Jere LGA, following misunderstanding that ensued amongst them during a cultural dance.
That the youths who were freely using the dangerous weapons in their possession, inflicted multiple injuries on themselves, team of operatives were deployed to the area, arrested one Ibrahim Isiaku (m) of the same address, who was said to be the mastermind of the fight, four of the injured hoodlums were rushed to the Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital for treatment.
Following serious injuries sustained, unfortunately, one of them, Usman Dannah (m) of the same address died this morning 8/3/2022 between 0700hrs and 0830hrs, corpse was subsequently released to his relatives for burial after autopsy. The arrested suspect has made useful statement that will assist us towards the arrest of his accomplices.
He said information was received from one Sadiq Mohammed (m) of Wuse II Abuja, that sometime in January 2022, his Grey Yellow corolla LE vehicle with Reg. No. BWR 390 AM (Abuja), was stolen from his possession by unknown persons after drugging him.
That the vehicle installed with a tracker was confirmed to have arrived Maiduguri Metropolis. Tentacles were spread by Crack Operatives, fortunately on 26/02/2022 at about 1745hrs, the vehicle was sighted along Borno Express/Bulunkutu highway, flagged down by Crack Operatives and impounded.
Two occupants of the vehicle, one Mohammed Abubakar alias Kanu Pulka and Shagari Abubakar, were apprehended therein. Both suspects claimed that the vehicle was brought to them by one Nura (surname yet unknown) from Abuja for disposal. Information from the complainant further revealed that the said Nura who went back to Abuja after handing over the vehicle to these suspects have been arrested. Investigation has commenced aimed towards unveiling their past crimes.
On 22/02/2022 at about 0020hrs, Crack Operatives in collaboration with Civilian JTF, arrested one Ali Modu 20 years (M) of Old GRA Maiduguri, who Criminally trespassed into the house of his Excellency the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima at GRA, with intent to steal therein.
Suspect who is a one–man syndicate, was said to have sometime in January 2022, gained entrance into the same house and stole some armoured cables (valued yet to be ascertained). The suspect confessed to have sold same to one of his receivers who is being trailed for arrest, investigation towards exposing his past atrocities is being intensified.
On 22/02/2022 at about 1600hrs, Supol Bulumkutu arrested and transferred to this office, one Mohammed Medugu alias Pires (M) and Usman Saidu alias Yaro (M) both of Bulumkutu ward Maiduguri, who are notorious in robbing and swindling innocent bank Customers of their ATM cards at the frontage of ATM Machines within the Maiduguri metropolis, the two suspects who belong to a NineMan syndicate,.
CP Umar explained further that4 on 17/02/2021 at about 1730hrs Criminally conspired with two of their members at large, robbed one Fati Ali Fantami (f) of her ATM card, copying her PIN number at the First Bank ATM Machine at Bulumkutu, when she tried to make some withdrawals, that when the transaction could not be completed,.
Then the customer decided to return home, when the culprits followed and robbed her of the ATM card zoomed off in a tricycle and went to another ATM Machine elsewhere and withdrew the Sum of Sixty Five thousand naira (N65, 000) from her account. Suspects on rigorous interview, confessed to the Crime, the robbed ATM card and part of the money withdrawn (N61, 000) were recovered from their possession.
Tentacles were spread which led to the arrest of five other members of the syndicate who also confessed to the crime. Investigation towards the arrest of the remaining members of the syndicate is on top gear.
On 21/2/2022 at about 1210hrs, one Sgt Mohammed Alkali attached to this office, arrested and brought. One Musa Mohammed Sadiq (M) aged 28yrs of Maduganari area Maiduguri, who confronted his grandmother named Sabaryu Zakariya (F), aged above 80 years old (f) of Maduganari area Maiduguri, intimidated and beat her up, for failure to give him food, suspect who was armed with a broken bottle, scissors, threaten to cause bodily injury to her.
He is being investigated accordingly. His state of mind is being examined through the psychiatric Hospital. On 19/02/2022 at about 1700hrs, one Joy Daniel (f) of Galtimari Fori area Maiduguri, reported to this office that on the same date at about 1600hrs, unknown Person(s) Criminally trespassed into her house and carted away her yellow colour Elepaq Electric Generator valued one hundred and ten thousand naira (N110,000).
Tentacles were spread by Crack Operatives, fortunately, on 21/02/2022 at about 1730hrs, one Nasiru Alhaji Saleh (M) of Ngomari Custain, was found in possession of the Generator, he confessed that, it was brought and sold to him by the duo of, one Ali Mohammed (M) of Bulumkutu ward and Idris Abdullahi (M) of Meri Kuwait area Maiduguri.
The receiver Nasiru Alhaji Saleh and one of the thieves Ali Mohammed, have been arrested, while trail of Idris Abdullahi is being intensified, investigation towards unveiling their past crimes is also in progress.
On 12/2/2022 at about 2105hrs, one Mustapha Goni (M) of Ajari ward Maiduguri reported to this office that on 14/02/2022 at about 2040hrs, one Yusuf Mohammed Gambo (M) aged 19 years of Dala Dayari ward Maiduguri conspired with two others at large, namely Haruna (M) and Sadiq (m) (surnames yet to be known), approached the tricycle he boarded, snatched his Tecno Smart (5) Handset valued fifty thousand naira (N50,000), pushed him down from the tricycle, and zoomed off to an unknown destination. Effort to arrest the fleeing suspects is being intensified.
Similarly, on the 5th of March, 2022 at about 2200hrs, One Yusuf Abdullahi ‘M’ 23years of Bulunkutu ward Maiduguri conspired with one Mohammed surname yet unknown now at large and abduct one Amina Mohammed ‘F’ 17yrs old who is mentally disorder at Bulumkutu area and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her, case under investigation.
Following the robbery incident on 6/02/2022 on a POS agent one Yusuf Usman (M) at GSM Market Bulumkutu, where one Abubakar Inuwa (M) of Bulumkutu ward Maiduguri was shot death by the hoodlums, who also inflicted injury on one Mohammed Hamza, tentacles were spread by Crack Operatives, fortunately.
While on 11/02/2022 at about 1345hrs, three suspects, namely, Mustapha Lawan alias Bakura Dantawaye (M), Abubakar Mohammed alias Bro Shagi (M) and Umar Ibrahim were arrested within the Maiduguri Metropolis. They all confessed to the crime, gave the names of two serving privates of the Nigerian army namely, PTE Igogo Michael, PTE Jibrin Adamu, as members of the robbery incident.
Trail of them in collaboration with the Military Police was intensified, fortunately, they were arrested on 13/02/2022 by the Military Police, confessed to the crime. They are being Court Marshalled by the Army authority before transferring them to this office.
on the 1/1/2022 at about 1230hrs, at Mbula-kudge village Askira Uba LGA the suspect named Mohammed Ashigar ‘m’ used a stick and hit one Jauro Saleh ‘m’ of Mbula Kudige on his head over a previous misunderstanding they had two months ago and as a result of which, he died on the spot.
And on the 17/01/2022 at about 1400hrs, this case was transferred from Gwange Division to this Department for discreet investigation, wide letter No. AR:3100/BRS/GG/VOL.3/92, dated 17/01/2022 indication that one the 01/01/2022 at about 1800hrs, One Hassan Idris ‘M’ of Ngomari Custin – Adam Kolo area Maiduguri, reported at Gwange Police Station that,.
He also said on the same date at about 0930hrs, One Mohammed Abubakar A.K.A Zangina ‘M’ of Ngomari side packed area armed himself with a long knife, short knife and a stick and attacked his younger brother one Dibal Idris Mohammed ‘M’ of the same address at Ngomari Layin Ngoshe area and stabbed him with a long knife on his head, right hand, and his stomach and as a result he sustained injury, he was rushed to UMTH for treatment but he died on the same date at about 1700hrs at UMTH while receiving treatment. Case pending legal advice.
