Senator Gyang condemns killing of 7 persons in Plateau, calls for decisive action against terrorists

Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial District in the National Assembly and Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Defense, Sen. Istifanus Dung Gyang has condemned the series of attacks on the Irigwe community of Bassa Local Local Government of the state where seven persons have been killed between Monday and Tuesday nights.

It would be recalled that five persons were confirmed killed including three women on Monday night at Mararaban Tipper along Nzhwerenvi village, Bassa Local government of Plateau State.

Also on Tuesday night two people were killed and another sustained gunshots injuries and currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital while houses razed and foodstuffs burnt down.

Senator Gyang in a Press Statement signed and issued on Wednesday in Jos by his Media Aide Precious Nyako described the fresh terror attacks on communities in Rigwe land has l disrupted the relative peace in Plateau North Senatorial District and is condemnable.

The Senator expressed sadness that the attacks and destruction of farm crops on Rigwe land are persisting despite assurances by the OPSH Military Security outfit deployed to arrest and stop terror attacks on communities in Plateau and neighboring Kaduna state.

Senator Gyang is urging the commander OPSH, Compol Plateau State Command, and other security heads in the state to take advantage of President Buhari’s clear order to Service Chiefs on Tuesday 29th March, 2022 not to spare anyone illegally carrying AK/47 to deal decisively with the evil men terrorizing Rigwe land and peace-loving communities of Plateau North.

The National Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association Hon. Danjuma Auta in a Statement issued on Wednesday said suspected Fulani herdmen after the killings on Monday and Tuesday also razed down 15 houses and over 20 food barns at about 11:10pm when they invaded Kpatenvie (Jebbu Miango) Village on Tuesday night.

Auta also disclosed that 10 Water Pump Machines,1 Peugeot Car and 1 Motorcycle were all burnt down while
Uncountable Irish Potatoes Seeds riped for planting were also burnt and destroyed.
