As part of efforts to address the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the newly elected National Youth Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Abdullahi Temidayo Israel has assured that he will intervene in the matter between the federal government and ASUU.

Abdullahi gave the assurance at the headquarters of party secretariat on Monday, in Abuja.

Briefing newsmen for the first time after emerging National Youth Leader, Israel said he will speak to the Minister of Education, the Labour union and other stakeholders so as to reach a resolution that will proffer lasting solution to the incessant strike actions in the country.

He said “Education is a leveler, it brings the child of a poor man to the same level of a child of a rich man and so education is vital for us.

“As part of what we are going to be doing as a council of youth leaders, myself and my colleagues, from the deputy to the youth leaders is to be able to sit down and begin to identify who are the stakeholders that we need to engage with, so that we can put this issue to rest.

“We are going to make an attempt by the grace of God to speak to the minister of education and lend our voice to the issues and also to sit down with other stakeholders. We will also lend our voice to Labour. We are not part of the main stakeholders, we can only go and advocate and lobby in our own little way”.

On what he will bring to the table as the representative of the youth in the party, the newly elected national leader said”We understand that the greatness we want share and spread across Nigeria is not going to be done by just one man. It is going to be the contribution of two generations; the generation of our fathers, the national chairman and national secretary and our generation.

“We believe that our party has the vision to transform Nigeria and bring back change that we will all be proud about. And we want to contribute our own opportunities, experiences and skills to the growth of our party.

“We are very grateful to our party leaders, delegates and the teaming members for giving us the opportunity to join this train in this capacity to contribute our own quota to the growth and development of this country.

“We believe that by the grace of God, the Buhari/Osinbajo administration would continue the great work that they have started and make Nigeria great again.

“We would not relent. As young people, we will come together. We will mobilize to work with all the stakeholders to ensure our country can reap the benefits of the progressives” he assured.

Speaking on the economic challenges facing the country currently, Dayo said “We know that as Nigerians we are blessed people, we have resources, we have manpower. We have natural resources, we also have the strength and tenacity of the millions of young Nigerians who refused to be broken.

“So what we are going to do by the grace of the Almighty is to begin to identify the various stakeholders that we need to work with in the political sector, the International development sector, the civil society sector. We will begin to engage with them on how to find solutions to address the challenges facing our nation and our young people” he added.

Abdullahi Israel was accompanied by his deputy, Jamilu Kabiru and zonal youth leaders.
