FMC Makurdi discharges COVID-19 patient after 14 days
The Federal Medical Centre Makurdi has discharged its only coronavirus patient after spending 14 days in the isolation centre.
Mr. Edward Faasema Manger, the COVID-19 index case was admitted into the isolation centre on May 4, 2020 at the Federal Medical Centre Makurdi.
In a statement by the Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of FMC, Mr. Gongort Samuel on Monday explained that the discharged patient was excited and full of praise for the professionalism with which his case was handled.
Gongort said: “He particularly remain greatful to Dr. Peteru Inunduh who always visit and call him, only to make sure he is comfortable and properly taken care of by the medical team throughout his 14 days in Isolation.
The FMC Managing Director, Dr. Peteru Innunuh also appreciated the patient for his cooperaton as well as the Benue Stare COVID-19 Taskforce for their effort in contact tracing.
According to him, the FMC would always be ready to cooperate with the State government to fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the state, and reiterated his commitment and determination in establishing COVID-19 testing laboratory in the hospital.
The Benue State Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr. Sunday Ongbabo expressed joy and happiness over the successful discharge of Mr. Edward Manger of covid-19 and appreciated Federal Medical Centre Makurdi for making State proud on this pandemic.
