Troops fighting terrorists uncover wreckage of fighter jet in Sambisa a year after crashes [Photos]
Troops fighting terrorists in Borno State on Saturday uncover the missing Alpha Jet Aircraft [NAF475] which went missing on March 31, 2021.
The fighter jet, CAPITAL POST recalled went missing after it disappeared from the radar with 2 crew members while bombing terrorists in Sambisa forest and since then, it could not be located.
Immediately, the Nigeria Airforce reported the missing Alpha Jet [NAF475] with 2 crew members. The Airforce immediately launched rescue operation which did not yield results at the time.
The Aircraft was on operation from the Air Force Base in Maiduguri, Borno State on the ill-fated day and the Aircraft has previously used in several successful operations.
The discovery of the missing Aircraft was released by the Army Headquarters on a social media post on Saturday.
According to the post, the wreckage of the aircraft was uncovered by Troops of Operation Desert Sanity during a clearance patrol in Sambisa Forest, Borno State.
The army wrote: “BREAKING: Troops of Operation Desert Sanity on a clearance patrol in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, have uncovered the wreckage of crashed Alpha Jet aircraft (NAF475) that went off the radar with 2 crew members on 31 March 2021. Further exploitation is ongoing.”
It wasn’t clear, if the remains of the two crew members were also recovered.
