2023: Ex-governor’s son declare for gubernatorial race in Jigawa
Ahead of 2023 general election, the son of the former governor of Jigawa State, Mustapha Sule Lamido has declared interest to contest the governorship election in the State.
He would be contesting on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.
His father, Alhaji Sule Lamido was the immediate past governor of Jigawa who governed Jigawa State for eight years on PDP platform before the incumbent, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took over from him 2015.
Lamido (jnr) also known as Santurakin Dutse, made the declaration before party supporters in Dutse, the State capital on Thursday.
A relatively young man, Mustapha said he has consulted with the elders, youths, women socio-cultural and religious groups before he came out to declare his interest.
He revealed that party supporters were behind his his interest in the governorhip race having been pressuring him for so long, saying they have confidence in him going by his vast knowledge and experience.
He said his youthful age will be his driving force to success.
The aspirant called on politicians to strive at all cost to impact positively on their communities and be just and fair in the discharge of their responsibilities
Lamido(jnr) is the first politician to declare his intention to run for the office of the Governor in the state.
The aspirant was the Jigawa Central Senatorial candidate for the party in 2019 general election and he is the second son of his father.
