A strong contender for the APC chairmanship position,Salisu Mustapha was at the House of Representatives on Wednesday for a solidarity visit.

Salisu Mustapha, who is also the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate and a founding member of CPC; a party which became victorious after merging with other parties in 2015 ,described himself as a true party man, who is aware of the aspirations of majority of APC members which is to retain the fundamental ideals of the party and to continue to provide a Progressive governance that elevates the fortunes of Nigeria.

He solicited for support from the house and he promised to collaborate with other leaders to promote unity in the party if given the opportunity to lead the party.

“If given the opportunity, we will do you proud,we will not disappoint you. The party needs unity now. If given the opportunity, we will ensure unity. I hope we will be able to partner with the house to do what no party has been able to do in Nigeria to bring about a progressive country” , he reiterated.

The Turaki of Ilorin, buttressed the point that the party was at a critical point of transition and has to remain on the lane of the ” winning party” so that the good works that the party has started will not be truncated.
He further said that there was a need for the inclusion of women and youth in leadership positions as they deserved it and he didn’t see the need to give leadership responsibilities to people because of their ethnicity rather leadership mantles should be bestowed upon people because of their past and present achievements in the society.

The majority leader of the house, Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa, appraised the aspirant, as someone who has been labouring silently to build the APC and adjured him to continue with his good works, if eventually elected as the APC chairman, thus he asked members to support him as he has the capacity to fit into the leadership of the APC.
