APC Convention: Ganduje says March 26 definite as training of 250 protocol officers begins
Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has assured members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the general public that the National Convention slated for March 26 will hold as scheduled.
The Kano state governor gave the assurance while briefing Journalists at the party National Secretariat on Tuesday in Abuja.
Ganduje was reacting to a court order allegedly obtained by individuals loyal to Yobe State governor, Mala Buni restraining the party from conducting its National Convention.
The Governor who is also the chairman of the protocol sub-committee for the National Convention said, “I have no fear, the convention will hold Insha Allah, Don’t worry we are equal to the task. We are the biggest party in Africa and we have experienced hands who are organising the convention.
“A lot of reconciliation has taken place, consensus has taken place and we believe we will give you the best.”
Speaking on the level of preparedness for the convention, Governor Ganduje said protocol officers and ushers are undergoing training to achieve an excellent performance.
“We are here in order to train protocol officers and ushers so that they know exactly what they are expected to do. The selection of young men and women numbering about 250 are going to be trained on what they are expected to do during the convention, after that one they will go to the field. I myself will be there so that we continue the training there.
“So I assured you that we will give the best as protocol sub- committee. You know we will have so many dignitaries; legislatures, Governors, the President and the vice president himself, even minister, state assemblies.
“So you can see it will be a gathering of who is who not only in APC but in government.
“There will also be members of diplomatic corp. So we should expect our ushers and our protocol officers to give the best services” he said.
Meanwhile earlier today, the National secretary of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) Senator James Akpanudoedehe said processes had begun to vacate the court order targeted at halting the National Convention.
He said the ruling party has engaged a team of lawyers to address the purported court order.
