Kaduna 2023: Uba Sani declares, Speaker, members shun event
Ahead of 2023 general election, Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Uba Sani has declared interest to contest gubernatorial election on the platform of the ruling All rights Congress (APC) to succeed Ahmad Nasir El-Rufai.
He used the occasion to distribute about 59 cars to party executives.
Our correspondent reports that the Speaker of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani and the entire members were absent for unexplained reasons.
Local Government Council Chairmen were also conspicuously absent as well as the Secretary to the State government and some Special Advisers in the El-Rufai government.
The lawmaker in the presentation of his theme: “Sustaining and Building on a Legacy of Outstanding Public Service and Impact”, said his long standing alliance with “the pace-setting, innovative and resourceful governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai”, was perfectly understood to him.
He commended governor Nasir El-Rufai for changing the face of the State in the past seven years, stating that El-Rufa’i’s transformational leadership and developmental drive have redefined and raised the bar of governance.
While praying El-Rufai to high heavens, Uba said the governor has reworked the State which was evidenced in the remarkable milestones the state has recorded in policies, infrastructure, health, education, water resources, agriculture, agribusiness, to list but a few.
He promised to consolidate on El-Rufai’s legacy and sustain achievements he has recorded so far.
He said: “This is because a reversal of these gains in the post 2023 era will be a huge tragedy. Our people have witnessed selfless and impactful leadership and cannot settle for anything less,” he explained.
Offering himself as a suitable, natural and legitimate successor to El-Rufai, Senator Uba said he stepped forward to carry the banner of continuity as El-Rufai’s understudy.
“I have worked closely with him. I understand his vision and mission. I stand in good stead to sustain his vision and mission. I am conversant with the developmental challenges of Kaduna state. I understand it’s complexities and possibilities,” he said.
