2023: Lalong tasks Plateau APC officials to unite members across the State
Plateau State Governor Barr. Simon Lalong has tasks the newly inaugurated officials of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the State to unite all members of the Party across the 17 Local Government Councils, saying they should provide fair leadership to all party members.
Lalong, represented by the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Prof. Danladi Atu stated this during the official inauguration of State Officials of the APC held at the Party Secretariat, Jos.
He challenge the party officials to put the APC together, forget differences and be united ahead of the 2023 elections.
According to him, the party officials must achieve cohesion and unity of purpose among party supporters without which the quest for consolidation would be hampered.
“I strongly appeal to all APC leaders and supporters in Plateau State to put all hands on deck at this time so that we can together forge ahead with higher performance ratings and indisputable record of tangible achievement of this administration”.
Governor Lalong encourage the newly inaugurated officials to put party interest first before any other thing.
“No matter the severity of the issues, we must forgive one another and our party faithfuls must also support our officials so that we can move forward.”
The APC State Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Hon. Rufus Bature who has since taken his oath of office in Abuja with other state chairmen charged party new party officials to work united with him to break the jinx and produce Governor Simon Lalong’s successor come 2023.
The chairman also said that the party must work hard to avoid a repeat of the jinx where no outgoing government installed its successor.
He said, “The party must work hard at all levels to install an APC government in 2023, thus breaking the jinx of the outgoing government not installing its successor.”
The chairman pointed out that the party would not repeat the mistake during the bye-elections in the Jos North/Bassa federal constituency where the opposition PDP won the election.
He gave assurance that the party would not impose any candidate on the people, ahead of the 2023 but would allow the best candidate to emerge through a transparent process.
“Our party believes in dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes and would soon embark on a tour of the 17 Local Government Areas to address all grey areas.
Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda said APC has come to stay in the Plateau and everything within the ambit of the law must be done to retain power.
He said that there is no party that does not have challenges and urged the APC leadership to work towards addressing their internal setback.
“You should believe me that if we don’t form the next government in Plateau, none of us will come out of our houses, we will all cry if PDP take over power from us because we will not find things easy.” He stated.
Barr. Stephen Abba administered oath of office to the 36 State Executive Committee members of the APC.
